Tube roses - A new entrant into my garden
The tube roses is an aromatic and white flower, so beautiful, especially when strung into a garland. I happened to visit a nursery which had the tube rose bulbs and grabbed a few of them and now, they have joined the roses, jasmine, oleanders and other flowers in my garden. The flower, also known as Nila Sampangi locally (in Tamil) or Rajani Gandha in Hindi, is offered to God,especially in the form of beautiful garlands, often interspersed with roses and other darker flowers.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteThis is a great flower but is not very friendly to pots. However if you have planted it on the ground this will do very well and bloom often. All the best. Let us know how it goes.
Hello, Thanks for your comment. I have put it on the ground and in less than 2 weeks, some new shoots have sprung up, filling me with joy and hope, and I am really looking forward to the bloom day.
ReplyDeleteIt is similar to jasmine i suppose..Is the fragrance of both the same or differ?
ReplyDeleteVery different from jasmine in smell.
ReplyDeleteAny idea where I can get in Chennai?
does it come from bulb or seed?
Want to get some for my garden.
Comes from a bulb. You can get it in the nurseries in Anna Nagar in Chennai. As you have rightly pointed out, the fragrance is quite different from that of Jasmine.
