Its summer time now and the jasmines are back in bloom after a long period of sleep. The beautiful aroma from the jasmine flowers has arrived, and will keep the home fragranced for the next few months.
This is the thicker variety of the flower, locally known as Gundu Malli. Almost looks like a white rose.

Mine are still in deep slumber is there something i need to do to wake them up? Someone said to stop watering them is that so?
ReplyDeleteHope they have woken up by now, just like I have from my own slumber. I dont think not watering them is a solution. You can add some organic manure to improve their yield. One more thing that will help is loosening the soil around the roots.
DeleteDeleafing Jasmine helps. But we generally do it in March.
DeleteIt might be a wee bit late, but you can try it on a couple of branches and see the result. We leave the leaves in the pot and cover it with a little mud so that it mulches.
Will wait to hear if your jasmines have woken up
Your jasmine does look like a small white rose. Really beautiful. I guess my jasmine is a different variety than yours.
ReplyDeleteNice writing. I shall be following your blog for more entries. Good to have stumbled upon your blog
Thanks. Its called Gundu Malli. There are quite a few varities with the best one being Ullur Malli(Meaning Local Malli), which is also called IRUVAKSHI, with a very very beautiful aroma.
